- I bet I've seen it 20 times. I loved Walter Farley's books, too, but the movie has some scenes in it that are really special, that provide great examples of what YOU can do within a human/horse partnership.
I love the scenes when Alec is on the beach playing with The Black. The kid runs, the horse runs. The kid stops, the horse stops. The Black mirrors Alec's every move, no halter required. What a dance - what beauty, what perfection! It's one of the things that inspired me and formed my idea of what a human/horse relationship was supposed to be like, when I was a kid. It still reflects what I believe about human/horse partnerships.
Yes, I know that there was a trainer off-screen in the movie, but so what - YOU can do these things with your horse, too, no trainer required! It's a lot of fun, it's great ground-work and an incredible tool for building a human/horse partnership relationship.
